Newest structure: Sail Barge

You read correctly.  This is a small peek at it:

Here are some details...
Obtained from the Aurilian Reward vendor.

* Player Lots Required: 2
* Base Item Storage: 250
* Footprint: 10x7 (yep!  too big for the city)

* Base Maintenance Rate: 26/hour
* Cost to Redeed: 0(?)

Issues
* Items can not be placed on the upper deck of the Sail Barge.
* Due to curvature of the walls, gettting items flush against the walls is difficult at best.
* The shelf/ledge that runs around the interior of the Sail Barge suffers from the same issue as the SoroSub Yacht and Player Cantina bars. We are unable to place the items fully on the shelf/ledge.

Yes, a long time coming.  Using the same method as before, I selected another monthly participation winner.

Dylany

I am leaving the window to claim the award since it took SO long for me to finally announce it.  Congratulations, and thanks for your participation.

Recent City Hall pic

Here is a quick peek inside city hall - showing off some of the newest decor available for helping out Nym.  Click for a better look.

Decorations often get changed out or moved around depending on what's new in the galaxy...or events taking place.  The next scheduled holiday is Remembrance Day.

City Banners

 http://starwarsgalaxies.station.sony.com/images/features/friday/11_15_07/54-hdr.jpg

Many people aren't aware (or forgot about) city banners.  They are originally obtained as a "city banner kit" veteran reward, but can be traded and sold.

 The kit converts into a banner which can be of a faction or one of MANY planets.  The banner can be changed as often as wanted, so buying one banner from someone doesn't mean you have to keep it that way -  so long as a "city banner" variety.

City banners can be placed inside one's own structure or inside a city...as the name states.

If any citizens have a banner they would like placed in front of their house or a particular structure, I will be happy to do my best to make it happen.  There are already a variety of rebel banners in Solaria, so I will let you display any planetary banner flag in the city.  All you have to do is mail me or send a message.

Comments vs ShoutBox

http://swg.stratics.com/content/news/images/talk-hdr.jpg

[the image was cribbed from the Friday Feature - but speaks the point]

When to shout?  When to comment?  Who cares?  I do...of course.

Comments are enabled on every Solaria blog post.  I get notified when someone leaves one and I read every one; using the feedback to make the future of the blog best I can.

To make a comment:
At the bottom of every post is a listing with the number of comments.  Click it and you can leave your own comment to that post/topic.

About the ShoutBox/TalkBox:
The great thing about the 'box' is it's on the front page and people can hop on and say hi whenever they feel like it.  a TalkBox posts also counts towards the randomly-chosen monthly participation contest.  It's good to use for greeting citizens and passersby, but comments on posts might get lost in the shuffle on the TalkBox.

Either way, hopefully you enjoy both features.  I certainly do - since it helps make Solaria the best it can be.

Incentive Reworkings

It has been really tough keeping up with all the stuff I tried keeping in place for Solaria's online community.  I am not doing away with it, but making some modifications to the process.

The contests have been tough to keep up with weekly due to the schedules of citizens as well as some who don't always have a way to check in here as often as they wish.  To help remedy this, I want to bring back the randomly chosen [via the choosing command] citizen.  This time, the citizen will have two weeks (or until the end of the month) to claim the prize for being chosen.  Hopefully this is more fair.

As for citizen of the month, I plan to select a new one very soon.  I know the name is "of the month" but I haven't thought of an alternative title.  The citizen statue and concept I still have plans to keep rotating.  The plan is for a month 'cool down' and then the next (which makes me due for the next selection.

I still plan for the monthly participation award; selected as mentioned in the past.  It's a great incentive to keep people checking in on the blog...and it encourages first-time visitors to make returning trips.

Please comment on this post to give your opinion.  I read and reply to all comments on the blog.
